Announcing the eBook Companion to this Website

Matthew Campbell, May 11th, 2009

Hello Everyone!

I am pretty excited to announce that a new project I am working on his almost finished. It is an eBook designed to help you get up to speed with iPhone programming as quickly as possible. It is basically the book I was looking for when I needed help getting started in iPhone development.

The approach I am using in this book is not to attempt to cover every computer science theory or detail of programming, but to focus on the practical details to putting an app together. In the second half of the book I focus a lot on the things that make an iPhone app a product (vs a bunch of code). So, this book will have a lot of coding including source code but also it will walk you through identifying your audience, getting effective marketing materials and getting nice artwork to really turn your app into something people will buy.

Hi,

Would your ebook show us how to register as an iphone developer, set up the iphone apps on itunes and sell it and how to market the apps?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Gal,

In the book I do mention how to register as an iPhone developer – however, I can tell you right now that there isn’t really much to that process (it is essentially signing up at http://developer.apple.com and installing software on your Mac). You can get all the tools you need to actually write code and follow along in the book from Apple for free.

Also, the marketing part is a large part of the 12 Step Formula. I do into designing your app around your audience (and also finding an audience in the first place).

As far as getting your app on iTunes – this is not covered extensively, however I outline the process and point you to the appropriate Apple document that covers how to do this in detail.

In general, the book focus on what you need to do to understand the development process and also what you need to do to get that first app completed. Once you get through the entire process once it becomes a lot easier to develop and get your apps out of the door.
